Xolo Q700 Review

This review is your insight to the bestselling XOLO smartphone the XOLO Q700. The smart phone looks really good and also has a very decent price (look at the bottom of the article for price). The design is true to its form and is pretty nice. For such a price tag this phone has a Quad Core MTK processor! The display is pretty amazing too. XOLO has a class of its own and undoubtedly they produce phones of higher quality than Micromax or Karbonn and any of those powerful yet lower price tag phones. XOLO has had a lot of success from this phone I mean obviously, why obviously? Keep on reading and you will have the answer.

XOLO Q700 looks absolutely stunning, if you are in one of those electronic stores, you pick it up and just using it, taking a demo then you look at the price and you will surely think it is missing a digit! The finish and design is that good! It has a smooth texture on the back more like matte but not really matte. The design is very simple like most of the phones; it has a more rectangular look with minute curves on the corners. The back is completely flat and the edges are also very minutely curved. The edges on the top and bottom also are slightly curved. The speaker is placed on the back and the noise cancelation microphone is present on the back as well. The speakers are not very loud but controlled and of decent quality. The right edge homes the lock/home button and the left one the volume rockers. XOLO Q700 also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB slot for charging or connecting it to devices. XOLO Q700 is available in Coffee Brown, Black and Blue colours.

The display on the budget smart phones are pretty decent but not like budget smart phones by the known brand names (worldwide) but XOLO stands unique. The 4.5 inch wide angle view display looks as pleasing as display on less powerful more pricy Samsung or LG or HTC smartphones. XOLO Q700’s 4.5 inch display has a resolution of 540×960 pixels and a relatively higher pixel density of 245ppi. The balance of everything on the display is pretty good. Even the black levels are very nice for a cheaper priced phone. Viewing angles are good and can be clearly viewed even from the wide angles to the phone. The large screen allows you to play, read and watch or do what you want for a longer time without any problems. Full HD does not look like full HD but pretty beautiful never the less.

Ok, the 5MP camera on board the XOLO Q700 should have been much better. The images form the primary 5MP camera is pretty decent. The colours on the 2592×1944 pixel image looks under done and a little washed off yet very good overall. The contrast is unbalanced but the detailing is sharp, you gain some and you lose some. The front facing camera is a VGA one and good enough to make calls but not really cool for taking photographs and posting over the social network they will look way noisy on the larger displays (monitors). XOLO Q700’s primary camera is capable of capturing video in HD 720p quality and looks really good. The video is very well lit, stabilized and has almost the perfect saturation needed for a video. To your shock, this back/ primary camera can capture HDR photographs as well as panoramas! Say what??? It also has incorporated image stabilization.

XOLO has incorporated their own home based UI in this phone. The user interface is fairly normal and like the most android phones. You can access the camera or the phone dialler, messages and other bunch of stuff from the lock screen itself. But that is courtesy Android v4.2 Jelly Bean on the XOLO Q700 than the UI itself. Though both along play really well and pose no challenge to the user to get his head around the device but goes without saying iOS devices are much easier to use even for the kids. Google Play has loads of applications for you get your claws on, they are cheap and the apps on the App Store of Apple might come at a price but the same ones come for free on the Google Play. With Google’s i/o 2013 they have included great features in Android and specifically in Google Play and cranked up the quality.

Performance and Memory

XOLO Q700 has a 1.2GHz Quad Core MKT6598 processor which is crazy awesome. The phone also has 1GB of RAM on board. All this was not even available on the Micromax A110 Canvas 2 which is pricey than this. Plus if you do not really want the large 5 inch display then XOLO Q700 is a choice of its kind. The touch on the phone is very good, the response time could have been better. But this phone already has too much for its price so we cannot really complaint. The dual sim capability slows the phone down than its true performance by the quad core processor. XOLO Q700 has 4GB of internal memory which is again a positive as larger the internal memory more less you might search for an external microSD card and reduce the performance of the phone. The memory is expandable to up to 32GB if you choose to increase it. It does not have NFC, if it did I would throw away everything I have and jump because this phone literally has it all WITH QUALITY!

Final Thoughts

This is probably the highest recommended phone by the GadgetSpeaks team because for the quality it has and the price it asks this phone is an absolute go go. Display is wonderful, the quality of built is amazing, it is very powerful and overall looks- it does look pricey if you care about showing off. Xolo we salute you over this master piece.

Xolo Q700 is available for Rs. 9300
