Xolo Q1000S Review

Xolo is like the HTC of amazing budget smartphones. They have the quality and the performance but they do not sell as well as the others. Just few months back Xolo had released the Q1000 and we already have a Q1000S. The Xolo Q1000S stays true to what Xolo’s phones are known for- less you pay the more you get.

This new smartphone is just incredible to hold. It has the right amount of curves on the back near the edges to support your hand even on this big device. The engineered curves are not only what makes it feel so great but also the built quality. They have not gone metallic yet but the familiar matte kind of finish but a little more texturized gives it just the right feel. Xolo Q1000S is a phone worth spending money on just because how beautifully they have crafted it. It just comes in black.

We are yet to see a full HD quality display on Xolo smartphones but they will never compromise quality that they stand true to. On the Q1000S too they have stuck with a 5 inch 720p HD display. It is much colourful and naturally vibrant than most Micromax displays. IPS technology gives it great viewing angles and the ambient sensor automatically adjusts the brightness for you. HD content (not full HD) looks really nice on this smartphone, it flows easily to give you a great picture experience. Gaming graphics are just brilliant. Plus the size gives you a better sense of what the game is all about if you are playing something action wise.

Xolo has portrayed a 13MP camera on deck the Q1000S. This sensor can take amazing photographs in good lighting conditions. It is not state of the art so yeah in challenging environment it does tend to produce noisy photographs. But on average great photos, share it anywhere and everywhere the quality is really good. Xolo Q1000S also has a MP front facing camera which like the top end phones can take wide angle videos and images. The rear camera can records in full HD 1080p and the video does look very pretty. It has a dedicated HDR and panorama mode, something missing on many budget phones.

The phone uses a less tweaked and fresher version of Android v4.2 Jelly Bean. The user interface is not messed up with, it does not have any standout features on the software side. But let’s face it you rather have nothing than gimmick features. Google Play is the store used by this base from where you can get your apps for the phone and unleash it’s power.

Xolo Q1000S runs on a MTK 1.2GHz Quad Core processor which is crazy fast. But it is also known to slow down with time because it is not as well optimized as the other processors. Multitasking is made really simple and smoother thanks to 1GB of RAM. They have done a pretty great thing by not showcasing a microSD slot because some people try to boost too much of memory end up lagging their phone and then say the phone is shit. 16GB of internal memory is all you got, deal with it or move on. The battery life is staggering, I mean amazingly staggering- it provides you 22h of talktime! That is gold.

Final Thoughts

Is it better than Samsung Galaxy Grand? Any day I would say “hell yeah”. For starters it has a better camera, faster processor, cleaner design and a better display. I don’t see anyone buying anything else in this price bracket unless you ignore the brand name but believe me customer service and overall quality is really great, nothing that other budget smartphone makers can match. Truly wow-ed.

XOLO Q1000S comes for Rs. 18500
