Sony Xperia Z2 vs Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung has done a great job at selling Android in their bunch of smartphones, they are “the” company because of which Android got it’s huge marketing boost and started outselling everything else. And then the underdog, Sony. Both are 5 flagships down and lets see where we stand

Samsung Galaxy S5 offers a different built this time. They have this really weird feeling soft touch back panel that feels really uncomfortably texturized. Even on looks, I think the Galaxy S4 looks much better at even that screwed up plastic built was clean and clear. Sony Xperia Z2 slogs, it looks fantastic and feels even better. The phone has a shatter proof glass and zero gap engineering gives it water resistant qualities. Design: Sony Xperia Z2.

Both of them have roughly the same size of display: 5 inches and both are 1080p full HD displays. But they look certainly different. The density of pixels just give it the sharpness but colors can be very different. But here both the displays create similar colours. I really could not choose. Sony Xperia Z2 just does not have good viewing angles but then for that I won’t kill it. Display: TIE.

Sony Xperia Z2 has a 20MP sensor and the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 13MP camera. Both the cameras produce some fantastic shots. But the Samsung Galaxy S5’s camera stands out. It is way better at focusing, it takes way better low light shots, it captures more realistic colours and it’s camera UI is much better than most of the camera user interfaces on any smartphone. It is shocking at times how clean the Galaxy S5’s photos come even under low light conditions. You have to love the Galaxy S5 camera if not anything else. Both the phones are capable of shooting 4K video. Camera: Samsung Galaxy S5.

Even though Sony Xperia Z2 does not run on stock Android, it still does not have a UI that offers too many features and on the contrary the Samsung Galaxy S5 offers a world of features that can go as long as the Order of Phoenix. The new health features are surely generating some buzz and the camera UI is also courtesy TouchWiz. Samsung Galaxy S5 is a smarter smart phone thanks to these features that TouchWiz has to offer. It even has a finger print scanner which is a bit annoying because you have to hold the phone properly in your hand and perfectly scan vertically. Software: Samsung Galaxy S5.

Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2, both run on the Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB RAM. There is no lag and they work exceptionally well. The phones can both expand their memory to up to 128GB over a fixed internal storage of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. But they change roads when it comes to battery life. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a killer battery back up and even a better battery saving mode that can crunch hours even from 10% of battery. It is just bloody brilliant. Performance: Samsung Galaxy S5.

OVERALL WINNER: Samsung Galaxy S5.
