Sony Xperia M2 Review

Sony has finally perfected the smartphone making. I think Sony, with the Sony Xperia M2 will cause a lot of buzz above the Moto G. Sony Xperia M2 has everything you need with extraordinary quality. A great mid range phone for you. They have overcome the shortcomings of previous range of mid range smartphones. Let us put Sony Xperia M2 under the microscope.

One thing they have overcome is the design challenges. How do you give the consumers something incredible for a lower price? Not just design but built quality wise as well. Sony Xperia M2 has got you covered on both fronts. The same design principles from the Sony Xperia Z, Z1 and Z2 sets up really good here. It is purely flat and square. On the sides though, it is not the flat glass but a bulgy rubber. It gives you a great grip. The glass built is really of top notch quality and commendable on part of Sony. Sony Xperia M2 is a great phone to look at and hold. You will surely love it.

Displays are really not the best by well known companies on the budget side or mid range. They usually throw in a good size but not a viable resolution. But times are changing. Sony Xperia M2 has a 4.8 inch display, a good size with a qHD resolution. It is not full HD but a really sharp display never the less. You have a really nice color presentation along with sharp detailing. It is everything that makes a display awesome. To add to it, it has good black levels and viewing angles. Sony Xperia M2 allows you to enjoy your movies, games, videos to the fullest thanks to this quality display.

Sony Xperia M2
Sony has chipped in a lot on the camera side. They give a really state of the art 8MP sensor on the back. It can do everything an awesome lens does. It can use auto detection not just for faces or smiles but exposure and WB. It adjusts and sets your perfect settings for a given shot. The shutter speed is really good too. With HDR it obviously gets slower. Sony Xperia M2’s HDR mode is really worth using. The burst mode captures 30+ photos within 2 seconds of time. They have various apps by Sony to use such modes. With they could do this just from that one single camera user interface.

Software and Performance

Sony Xperia M2 uses their homemade UI over the Android v4.3 Jelly Bean. There is so news so far about the update to v4.4 KitKat but I am hoping there will be one. The user interface is pretty much the same from the last year but they have chipped in a lot of authentic apps and features for this specific phone. Sony Xperia M2 runs on a really good Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz Quad Core processor which is reliable and freakishly fast. Sony Xperia M2 gives you a GB of RAM and 8GB memory expandable to up to 32GB. There is no NFC sadly.

Passion and Inspiration drives my life and I get them both from technology. Getting to write about it is an absolute bliss. The bliss comes from people reading what you want to convey. There is nothing better for a person than his views to be heard. I am a music, tv shows, movies and technological enthusiast.

  1. I bought this phone sony xperia m2 by 11/05/14, i would have used this phone hardly less than 2days..
On the third day the mobile its
    (1) automatically getting switched off and on,
    (2) Notification bar doesn’t slide down,
    (3) when a phone call is made it would get switched off,
    (4) when a call is received it would get switched off,
    (5) if i switch off the mobile for 2 or 3 hours it would work right,
    (6) even then if i make any call the display light would turn off, i cant end my call until the
person whom i’m talking with rejects my call,
    (7) if I open any net based application, the application will be stopped immediately
    and display a message
    (8) Songs will be played automatically and so on..

When i visited the sony service center regarding the issue,
many came there stating different issues..
The models which i saw in the service center were sony xperia l,m,c,e and z..
So dont buy sony product, if u have any idea of buying this phone just erase it from ur mind!!
Better go with some other brand!!
    Dont waste your money!!
I dont even like to rate this phone!!
    this dont worth 20k..

    • You had a dud! One bad phone doesn’t mean they’re all bad. I’ve had no issues with mine, ever, nor have people I know who have Sony phones. Guessing your phone had bad software. Crap luck. Shame some (all makes and models) get through to retail with faults

  2. The Sony Xperia M2 is a solid, if unspectacular, phone that ticks the boxes and brings enough of the Japanese brand’s tech to make it feel wanted. However, it’s unlikely to be number one on any prospective buyer’s wishlist.
