Sony Xperia M Review

Sony Xperia has released its new budget smartphone the Sony Xperia M. It has a 4.0 inch display and comes with a 1GHz Dual Core Snapdragon processor. The looks and built are that of the wave of smartphones that followed Sony Xperia Z. Sony is really durable and excellent for long term use. The only thing we feel short is of something innovative and new.

Built quality and the feel that you get from the phone are really crucial points for consumers. If the phone does not look good and does not feel too comfortable in your hands, they won’t buy it. Good for Sony they put their emphasis on design and built quality. Sony Xperia M is no exception; it feels really good in the hands and has a sharp clean cut design. It has a flat back with a nice glossy finish. All the buttons useful are placed on the right side on the phone. It comes in Black, White, Purple and Yellow colors.

For a phone that costs so less it has a brilliant display. The 4.0 inch display on the Sony Xperia M is really dense with pixel density of 245ppi. The colors look amazing, no visible pixilation and it moves like fluid in your hands. Sony Xperia M misses out on viewing angles, they are not so great. The increased glossiness on the glass is crazy, you can’t really watch the screen under direct sunlight. It has a resolution of 480x 854 pixels. Entertainment sessions play really smoothly and look great on this 4 inch display.

Sony could really do something about their camera lenses on smartphones because they aint great. The 5MP primary one on Sony Xperia M is also just pretty average. It takes photos with the correct saturation level which might be the only plus point I have to say. The detailing of shots is just ok and the camera user interface does not let you do too much. The front camera is decent enough for video calls. Video recording is also so-so from the 5MP camera which is in 720p quality.

Sony Xperia M runs on the Android v4.1 Jelly Bean with their home-made made user interface. Their software does not offer you anything too different or fancy features. It is pretty simple to use and navigate. Google Play store got tons of apps in their bag so don’t worry about any specific one being missing on your mobile phone.

This affordable smartphone is pretty high on performance index. It fancies a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core 1GHz processor. It also has 1GB RAM, together they work in harmony to give you a terrific response and decent gameplay in gaming apps. It features NFC! That’s like super awesome, for a budget smartphone. Bluetooth and microUSB capabilities are obviously there. It has 4GB of internal memory expandable to 32GB.

Final Thoughts

Sony Xperia M is the most affordable high performance smart phone. It has good specifications and performs really nicely for its cost. The camera could have been a bit better. The display is to die for. If you have a budget for ten grand (rupees), buy this.

Sony Xpera M is available for Rs. 12700
