Sony Xperia L Review

This time of the year, new phones are flying into the market and just confusing a whole lot of people. Sony Xperia has shipped out a lot of models this year since their Xperia Z release at the Consumer Electronics Service 2013. One of these models that has been recently available in the market is the Sony Xperia L. The intense competition on the market has pushed phone manufacturers to provide great quality built and display for the most for a very, very decent cost. This is just better for the customers. Xperia L is high on quality from the material from which is made, to way it performs and the hardware that goes into making this phone what it is.

Sony Xperia L is built with this amazing glass on the front and the highest quality of plastic at the back. It has a very smooth back. Sticking to their common design, the Xperia L smartphone has that sqaurish design. This phone just looks fantastic. It has a normal weight that such smartphones usually have, weighing 137g rather on the heavier side. Dimensions of 128.7 x 65 x 9.7 mm (5.07 x 2.56 x 0.38 in), Xperia L is quiet thing and big in size. You get the volume rockers, camera dedicated button, 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB connector. Sony Xperia phones are best known for their sound and they have taken it to the next level with louder and better sounding speakers. It comes in three colours- Black, Red and White. Choose yours.

Xperia L starts where Xperia U left off. Bettering everything they can and still make it very affordable this phone has one the best 4.3 inch displays we have seen in a long time. Xperia L has very accurate in colours and detailing. Great contrast and a great uniform display. The display is really glossy and classy. It has a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and a pixel density of 228ppi. Wow. Just wow. Do what you want on this phone, with the graphic engine and such a stunning display nothing on this phone is less than an iota short of fascinating. Great HD content playback, high quality graphics on games and a good resolution to view great content while you surf the internet from your phone.

Sony just gets better and more affordable. Fancying an 8MP sensor for its primary camera, the camera clicks stunning photographs. Taken in resolution 3264×2448 pixels the photographs are big on quality. It is not as good as HTC 8MP cameras but good enough. It does not really capture the true colours of what you are looking at, misses it by quiet a mark. But that is something all camera phones struggle to get to. You get face detection, smile detection, geo tagging and a lot more. It also enables you to take photographs in HDR! And also has Panorama. With great video stabilization, the phone is brilliant for taking videos too. All videos are taken in 720p quality; you get an option to bring that down. It has a front 0.3MP camera. Just good enough to be there and give you that option of video calling and other things you would like to do with a front camera.

This phone is a huge leap from hardware found on the last series of Xperia phones. The Sony Xperia L fancies a 1GHz dual core processor and 1GB RAM, making your average apps run without any problems and enable you to do a lot more with your phone. You won’t face any kinds of choking by the phone as you navigate through apps and run them. It is so much better and sets the mark with high bars for the phone to beat. The UI by Sony is really interactive and you shall have great fun using it.

Running on the one of the best OS in the world, the Android v4.1 Jelly Bean, this phone is the one to buy. Big on customization, the phone is simply amazing. You can make it yours. You can put skins and use it as a WP8 device (not fully obviously, just the main skins) that’s the power of Android. Huge developer base with a lot of APIs to make use of in your applications. You get all the entertainment apps for games, video, music, just everything else in between. Android gives you the power to share and it is “the” big thing in the mobile OS and is here to stay.

Memory and Data

Sony Xperia L has an internal memory of 8GB expandable to upto 32GB via the microSD cards. The RAM is a staggering 1GB which is enough to run your apps smoothly that comes in today’s marketplace. For sharing you have the Bluetooth v4.0, NFC (yes NFC) and microUSB port. It supports 2G and 3G networks but not 4G LTE.

Final Thoughts

GO out and buy this phone, don’t think. There isn’t a better phone for the price, we are saying this straight. It checks all the correct boxes except for a large screen, larger than 4.3 inches or if you are a sucker for LTE in today’s world. The camera is great, the phone is fast, it has a good expandable memory, its quiet thin, you get everything you want with this piece by Sony. Buy it, any more delay and as of today, you are in danger of having your phone outdated. Buy it till it is cool!
