Sony Xperia E Review

The balance of the huge sale of Sony’s budget smartphone after their new releases of 2013 shifted from Sony Xperia Tipo to the newly released Sony Xperia E. This new phone by Sony is very decent for its price tag. Do not expect anything wow in this phone, its just simply “goes with the motions” kind of a phone. It looks quiet decent, feels nice in the hands and a very good phone for the normal man. Sony Xperia does always deliver on sound and a very nice built. They have achieved the same on this one. It did surprise us on two fronts, keep reading to know more.

The phone is made of out a high quality plastic that has a very smooth finish to it, very similar to that on the earlier mid ranged Xperia phones. It follows the philosophy of a square like design rather than the curved. It has a flat back and not curved around the edges on the back as well. The size of the is not on the normal size ( these days 4 inch display phones are decent), the phone its dimensions are 113.5 x 61.8 x 11 mm (4.47 x 2.43 x 0.43 in), so it is rather thinner and same in size as tipo. More like those mini phones. It is very light weighing just about 110 grams. The speakers are top quality and you can expect loud and soothing sound from these amazingly good speakers.

Camera is not one of Xperia collection’s strong points. Carrying a 3.15 MP primary camera, it is not the best 3.15MP camera out there. Photos come out under exposed often. Shutter speeds are too slow to capture images of objects in motion. It just is there for the sake of being there. Not totally bad, but not a decent performer. Under very normal and usual conditions you can take stills and just be satisfied. It takes images in 2048×1536 pixels resolution. There is no LED Flash or any fancy features for this camera. No secondary camera and VGA video quality recording by the back camera.

The display on the Sony Xperia E is quiet nice. The screen is really glossy because of the high quality glass. It has a 3.5 inch screen at a resolution of 230×480 pixels at 165 p

They have gone out and took the best for its processor and RAM, the Sony Xperia E runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. You won’t find many phones of such price tags or any phones of this price tag by a brand that gives you Android Jelly Bean OS right out of the box. Gives you great power in hand, power of customization, power to get all the useful apps out there, power to develop and power to share. It’s just incredible to have a Jelly Bean from a well-known company for just 8,000 INR. The UI is quiet decent, nothing fancy. Works really well and makes things easy for you to access.

Powering this next best seller from Sony is a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 512MB RAM, say whaa? For 8,000INR you give me 1 GHz processor by Snapdragon, Android Jelly Bean and 512MB RAM! This is nuts! And this is not even by Micromax or Karbon, it’s a bloody Sony Xperia. With such power you fulfil min requirement of many such apps that even phones priced 18,000INR cannot match. The phone does experience crashing while opening the camera or a very bulky app when there are too many already running on the background. Performance, performance is everything and they have gone big this time and its stunning.

Memory and Data

Sony Xperia E comes with a 4GB internal memory expandable to 32GB. The main memory is 512MB. You get bluetooh v2.1 (WAIT WHAAA v2.1?) to share files. There is no NFC. It supports 2G and 3G wave bands. You can also connect to the internet via the Wi-Fi.

Sony Xperia E comes for a price of Rs.9790 (dual sim) and Rs. 8699 (single sim)
