Samsung Galaxy Star

Samsung has been putting a lot of working in providing people with the best smartphones in affordable rates. Samsung’s newly launched Samsung Galaxy Star will surely be the most highly talked about budget (4999 INR) smartphone in the market. You this stunning device from Samsung at a very low price but with compromise too. It has both good and bad, but for whats its worth, an amazing phone in the market for a low price.

Samsung Galaxy Star Hardware
There is not much to say about the hardware as a whole, its nothing premium but better built quality than budget smartphones from last year. It comes in Black, White and Blue. The phone has a comfortable thickness, the dimensions of this phone are 105 x 58 x 11.9 mm. This device’s design is very similar to that of Samsung Galaxy Music Duos, but isn’t that story of every Samsung phone? Galaxy Star is curved at the corners and because of its small size fits perfectly in your hands. There is no dedicated camera button but you get the volume rockers on the left hand side and the lock/power button on the right hand side of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy Star Display
The small screen size is a complete turn off. Its just too small, measuring 2.99 inches with just 64K colors. The screen carries a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels at 133 ppi pixel density. To complement the power of this phone you should have a 3.5 inch screen at least to make full use for a prolonged time. 2.99 inches will just strain your eyes and make your brain ache.

Samsung Galaxy Star Android Jelly Bean
For just 4999 INR you get the experience of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS by Samsung. For such a low cost, if this was offered by Micromax, I would not be surprised but lets say Samsung has spent a lot of time to outline the necessities for a budget smartphone and has come out with the best to give a phone. The overall features are not so great but they do provide you better than other phone till the 7000INR range.

Its too boring a class talking about cameras of budget smartphones, this one carries just 2MP camera. It is not too good but acceptable enough to save photographs on basis of “happened to be there”. The image resolution that it captures is 1600×1200 pixels and video quality is QVGA. There is no front camera support, obviously.

Memory and Data

Samsung Galaxy Star has an internal memory of 4GB expandable upto 32GB via you know what (microSD cards). It has got a main memory (RAM) of 512 MB, amazing right? (not sarcastic). No NFC support. Bluetooth v4.0 and microUSB cable helps transfer data. It also provides you wifi but no 3G. Internet data transfer only on the GPRS and EDGE.

Samsung Galaxy Star
Powered with 1Ghz Cortex A5 processor along the support of 512 MB RAM in such a low priced phone, I am surely blown away. When you test this piece, you will be surprised on how well it responses and how smoothly the games run on this smartphone. Samsung has come out better over Galaxy Music Dous, bettering both the processor, OS and everything else for a lower price! It is astonishing and simply fascinating. If this phone had a 3.5 inch screen then I am sure every 2nd person who cant afford a 10,000 INR+ phone would have this one.

Final Thoughts

If you have the money, buy this without second thoughts. There is no better phone anywhere close for a good amount of money. The screen is your only concern, otherwise, if you consider buying this, please go ahead. It provides you with top class quality of Samsung and best of its class features in low priced smartphones
