Nokia Lumia 920 has been marked sort of a comeback for the company. iPhone 5 on the other hand rides stronger on the smartphone base Apple has created since iPhone 1. Both give you better durability than other hand end phones in the market. This is one battle which was inevitable. iPhone 5 vs Nokia Lumia 920.

Design

iPhone 5 is simply artistry on a smartphone. With the sharp design and beautiful aluminium built there is nothing worth more holding. Nokia Lumia 920 has a solid polycarbonate built. It is of great quality but bends infront of the feel of iPhone 5. 920 is also very heavy and bigger for your pockets compared to the light iPhone 5. Design- iPhone 5.

Display

Nokia Lumia 920 features a 4.5 inch 720p display against the iPhone’s beautiful 4 inch retina display. Both of the displays look stunning but somewhere the 920 lacks clarity in colours. Both of them have a flat design but I would say iOS has done better than them at UI design. There is simply no beating the Retina Display against a rather ordinary HD display. So Display- iPhone 5

Camera

I will put it in the simplest way possible. Nokia Lumia 920 will thrash the iPhone 5 in low light photography. But the iPhone’s detailing is no match for 920. The deep detailing and colour saturation is missing in Lumia 920. Also Lumia 920 takes over saturated photographs, too bright for no reason and iPhone 5 takes photos which are a tad under saturated. They have their pros and cons but now the ice breaker will be the camera software which is in favour of Nokia Lumia 920. The iOS’s camera interface does not allow you to do too much but in Lumia you can change every aspect of your photograph. Camera- Nokia Lumia 920.

Software

Both the phones do not have any ground breaking features to call them smartphones but Siri is a huge advantage over WP because it does not have anything like it. iOS in many ways much simpler and the better designed OS. But on the iOS 7, it feels like they stole the multitasking from WP 8. Windows Phone 8 is very different but I would say it still was kind of a beta for Microsoft to throw the cash and see what happens. Success so far. Both the WP8 and iOS 7 have exponentially better quality of apps compared to Android. Software- iPhone 5.

Performance

The overall experience matters, if you are going to have an Octa Core lagging itself to death in a year it will never be worth it. Here are two best examples who won’t. iPhone 5 has an A6 Dual Core 1 GHz processor tailormade for iPhone 5’s capabilities. Nokia Lumia 920 has a 1.5GHz Dual Core Snapdragon processor. Nokia Lumia920 is faster. But when you use both the phones, they run equally smooth. They both do not offer expandable memory. Battery Life is much better on the 920, there is NFC in the 920 and hence the better performer. Performance- Nokia Lumia 920.

Final Verdict

Apple iPhone 5 takes this one. It has a worse of battery life but the overall experience and app ecosystem and the display and the built and the endless things that make it a piece of beauty overwhelms the Nokia Lumia 920. Lumias are still not that ready to take the mainstream market, they need better overall product development. Apple iPhone 5 got this in the bag.
