Nokia X Review: An Android Phone

The buzz was always there. Nokia will announce an Android phone for the common man. And finally that day has come and it is out there, being sold within no time in China. It is brilliantly made and exceptionally priced. Nokia X is what might be the last push by Nokia before Microsoft consumes them.

Nokia X has the colors that come fresh from the Lumia colors. Nokia X almost had me fooled in their press photos, it almost looked like a Lumia. But it is better in design with the thin plastic shell casing that does not expand your hand like the Nokia 520 or the 525. The phone is really light and the reasonable size makes it easy to move around. Pretty cool, I feel so.

Nokia X
4 inch 480×800 pixel display is pretty standard. It is average in size and thanks to some software tweaks from Nokia, each pixel on that display just looks and feels stunning in everyway (not the high end stunning, just good to the eyes stunning considering a budget smartphone). The viewing angles are not that good though. Watching video does manipulate and push the display in performance and you can see why less resolution remains less resolution. For the decent prize, the display is actually brilliant.

3MP sensor is not exactly the dream camera for customers. Also, in practice it does not seem awesome. It takes very so-so photographs. It is easily not the cleanest of even in the averagely detailed category. One thing is sure shot- you cannot think about cropping these images. The photos look really dull in colour form and just do not seem right.

Nokia X
So get this- Nokia X is an Android phone which works on the Android Jelly Bean OS but it does not feel like an Android device at all. It has it’s own unique interface which on philosophy of WP and Symbian. You do not have direct access to the Google Play Store, but the apps are available on Nokia’s App store but no, you do not get everything that you do on the Google PlayStore.

Nokia X seems pretty badass among budget smartphones because of the incredible Snapdragon S4 by Qualcomm. And it is pretty badass. The phone is smooth as butter and you surely would not have to wait for the apps to open with the fear of it getting stuck. Nokia X gives you 512MB RAM to support that processor and enhance multitasking. 4GB of internal memory on board is expandable to up to 32GB via the microSD cards. Enjoy the battery life because it can get you 2 days with still josh to go on and on.
