Nokia Lumia 920 Review

The front runner in the Nokia Lumia series of Windows Phone 8, the Nokia Lumia 920 stormed the market. The wait had been long and it surely paid off. It bought the amazing UI of Windows Phone 8 that everyone eagerly waited for. The phone looks absolutely smashing. With a rich poly carbonate body, it feels real premium in hands and gives you the feel of holding an expensive phone. This was the first WP8 device launched in the Lumia series after the WP 7.5. This was also the first time Lumia introduced those rich colors that make these phones look so bright and nice to have. It was straight up put to competition against HTC’s 8X that offered the same OS- Windows Phone 8.

Nokia Lumia 920 Wireless Charging

Nokia has done its work in making a top class phone in terms of design. The phone is squarish and just slightly curves at the back which makes it easier to hold the handset in your hands. Weighing 185 grams, it is just a little bit on the heavier side. The screen has been protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The phone is available in White, Black, Cyan, Yellow and Red. All the colors except Black have that glossy finish and is prone to fingerprints.

The phone has real loud speakers, on the bottom of the phone there are micro drills which look beautiful and they give crazy awesome top quality sound. The body of the phone enables it for Qi Wireless charging. The only design constraint this phone has is, it does not allow you to have the option of removable battery. If you are always on the road and carry around removable batteries, this is not your place to be.

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 with their beautiful displays
This Nokia flagship phone has beautiful 4.5 inch Pure Motion HD+ Clear Black Display. Phew that was a lot to say. The screen has a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels. It has a bright and rich display having 332 ppi pixel density. The images look crisp, video movies like liquid and there is nothing more you could have asked for.

Nokia Lumia 920 Camera
With the coming of Nokia Lumia 920, the camera was the most talked about. This incredibly sharp looking phone has a 8.7 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens with a f 2.0 sensor optimizing it for low light photography. It also has a 1.2 MP Secondary or front camera. Unlike the younger sibling, Lumia 920 has image stabilization which enhance your video capturing capabilities and make them smoother. The company has invested too much time and money in developing the camera for low light photography that it seem to loose the mark in normal conditions but no doubt one of the best to capture moments in low light environment.

The camera has tons of feature. Nokia City Lens provides you with augmented reality. Move your camera and it will show you where the best hangout destinations are along with a small rating, choose to open one of them- Nokia Maps show you the way. Smart Shoot allows you to select the best shot and choose to save it. Other features like Panorama are present too.

With the primary camera you can capture video in 1080p @30fps. The quality is brilliant and worth the money and the front facing camera is capable of recording 720p video.

HTC 8x and Nokia Lumia 920
Goes without saying that Nokia Lumia 920 runs on the Windows Phone 8 Mobile Operating System. With the power that this phone has along with WP8 it just gives you the best smartphone experience there is available. Nokia+Microsoft give you the best of smartphone applications. Nokia City Lens, Nokia Music, Nokia Maps, Microsoft Word, Nokia Maps, Sky Drive, the list is just endless. Best thing about every app on WP8 is that it just load once and then there is just swiping and moving. For example, once your Facebook app loads, you dont need to again click on Timeline, Photos, you just swipe your way to it and they will be ready to be seen there. Multitasking made easy. Everything you want in the smartphone.

You generally go to your application to send someone a message via FB or via Twitter, with WP8 you just type it in and it will be sent directly from the box. It has deep social integration.

Performance and Memory

With 1.5Ghz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor along with 1GB of RAM, this phone is an absolute bliss to use. Gaming is super smooth and along with the display it has, you just want to stay like that forever. Sadly there are no microSD card slots, so if youlike to carry heavy files around this is not the phone for you. It has 32 gigabytes of internal memory which is quiet decent.

Final Thoughts

What final thoughts? JUST GO AHEAD AND BUY THE DAMN THING, you wont regret. Its sexy, its vibrant, its powerful, its beautiful and its everything you want in a smartphone.
