The Lumia 820 is about 25 grams lighter than the 920 weighing at about 160 grams. For some reason in terms of looks, Lumia 820 is the most catchiest out of all of the 5 phones in the new WP8 Nokia Lumia series. Its quiet slim compared to 920 and more squarish giving it a very uniform and classy look. The polycarbonate does it not feel cheap at all like that on the Samsung Galaxy phones. Like every other Lumia phone, like in every other article, have variety of colours: Yellow, Red, Black, Cyan and White. Like the 920, 820 also have wireless charging capabilities, isn’t that great? Of course it is!
Nokia Lumia 820 runs the Windows Phone 8- now isn’t that obvious? HERE Maps, HERE Drive and Nokia Music come out courtesy of Nokia. There isn’t a consistent Maps or Drive application than that of Nokia. Like mentioned in other Lumia articles, WP8 has deep social integration making it easier for you to connect with people. WP8 also gives you free Sky Drive storage of 7GB and access to the heavenly Microsoft Office on the go right from your phone! Nokia Music is bliss of a music application to have. It gives you great info about the artist and a peak into their lives and great music suggestions as well. Microsoft is just going to get better. WP8 OS is here to stay.
Like the older fella, 820’s 8MP primary camera is also powered by Carl Zeiss lens. It has also has a front VGA camera, well that is disappointing. You should have a 1.3 MP camera at least in a 20k marked phone. But the back, primary camera is just stunning. The images are sharp and in great detail but like the 920 its a better performer in low light and misses the mark against it’s rivals in daylight photography. You get cool features like Smart Shoot, Panorama, Nokia City Lens. The primary camera is capable of capturing 1080p video with video stabilization.
Performance and Memory
It is a hell of a device with a 1GB RAM and 1.5 Ghz Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Casual app work and heavy gaming, everything goes on smoothly on this lady. It is more than just decent when it comes to multitasking and gaming. Switching to apps is very smooth; you can thank the Main Memory as well as the OS WP8.
It comes with internal storage of 8GB with microSD options expandable upto 64 gigabytes that lacked in Lumia 920. Like mentioned above, it has a main memory of 1GB.
217 ppi density might seem low but somehow on the 4.3inch screen with clear black display it still looks pretty. The colours are accurate, the blacks are black, and there is uniform lighting. Unlike the 720 it has not missed the mark in terms of providing great display even for such a low ppi screen. It is AMOLED display with multitouch and has a resolution of 480×800 pixels. If you are looking for some good video playback quality and great experience in viewing photos as well, this is your device to get.
We dont seem to think there was anything wrong with its phone except for its weight and the front VGA camera. The overall experience is quiet cool and one will enjoy it thoroughly in terms of multimedia and the WP8 OS. If you dont like the fact it is not an HD screen then you can turn on to somewhere else but it is still quite remarkable and looks great. We are really fascinated by the design and if you are into flaunting, this is your device to grab.
