Nokia Asha 230 Review

Nokia had released a new OS, the Asha OS. It was the blend of Symbian design with new features and similar working interface. They just dropped a new smartphone to the Asha OS line, The Nokia Asha 230. It is the most basic smartphone with the cheapest price in the market. When I say it is the cheapest, I mean that it is the cheapest.

Nokia Asha 230 is a very small phone that does fits anywhere easily. It is pretty thick for a small phone but it is pretty nice to hold with the matte built. The phone does not look like much but for the price it is good enough. Nokia Asha 230 curves around the edges at the back to give a better hold but the phone is small enough so that you can operate it with one and only one hand. It is so small that the keyboard size is quiet small and you will have a problem typing.

The display is small, ofcourse you cannot have a small body and a large display. Nokia Asha 230 comes with a 2.8 inches display, it is old school. People no longer care for such a small display but this phone is made for those who cannot afford much. The display is very colourful and generates most of it looks artificial and over exposed. The display is accurate and there is not visible pixilation around. The display is fresh and it is very Symbian in the design.

The camera is pretty basic. Nokia Asha 230 has a 1.3MP primary camera and there is no secondary camera. Nokia Asha 230’s camera takes some very basic photos, you cannot crop them, and you can’t do anything about them. It is just there for the sake of it. Nokia Asha 230 takes very pixilated photos, they have too much noise in them but “less for less”.

Nokia Asha 230 runs on the v1.4 of the Nokia Asha OS. As I mentioned earlier the phone has the design semantics of the Symbian with certain features that make it the Asha OS it is. The OS is very user friendly and so is the interface. You can get basic apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, all that jazz of Social Media with certain games like Angry Birds. But, the phone does not stand anywhere compared to the other OS ecosystems and App Stores. It is nowhere close.

The processor on the phone is unknown but the phone is moderately smooth. It does lag now and then. Compared to any other smartphone it is pretty slow. Nokia Asha 230 can take a lot of time to open heavy apps. Even Facebook and WhatsApp are not all that efficient. Nokia Asha 230 has a very low internal memory and you “have to” expand it. Nokia Asha 230’s memory can be expanded to as much as 32GB. The battery is exceptional, easily you can get more than a day out of this smart phone.
