Micromax Unite 2 A106 Review

Every time we put Micromax under the microscope, it is almost inevitable for me to talk about it without mentioning how awesomely they have been evolving their quality and still being able to keep the prices down. Micromax Unite 2 A106 is a phone which has improved Micromax’s image by leaps and bounds. A similar phone (in terms of specifications) could cost you at least 6,000 INR more and now it is really affordable. Let us have a closer look at this phone.

The only place where Micromax is still not making any real progress is in design and build quality. This phone has one of the bad kinds of plastics you can ever hold on a phone. Micromax Unite 2 A106 is a relatively larger phone. The plastic is okay but as I said it just has not improved. Micromax phones still feel chunky and not great to hold. Micromax Unite 2 A106 does offer a great pallet of colours.

You get a stanard 480×800 pixel 4.7 inch display that seems to be pretty good to look at. It is not the most accurate displays as you can see the noise in the display. The colours are much better. Micromax has surely worked on their display. You can make out they seem much more genuine and warm in their tone. Micromax Unite 2 A106 4.7 display makes sure you enjoy the “Canvas” with great clarity in both games and video playback.

Micromax has come a long way in the camera quality as well. This 5MP camera on the back is much better than most 8MP sensors Micromax has made on the other smartphones. Micromax Unite 2 A106 has a good 2Mp front camera as well. Selfie fever is on and this will assist you in every way to make clear self portraits. The colours from the primary camera are satisfactory. They still take under saturated photographs. It can take 720p video whose colours are ironic, because they are oversaturated.

Software and Performance

Micromax Unite 2 A106 gets the latest v4.4.4 Android KitKat. They use their own UI. The UI is pretty clean, it is nothing like TouchWiz by Samsung, as it does not really give you additional features. All the features you get on this phone is pro KitKat features. You get a nice smooth experience thanks to the 1.3GHz MTK processor and 1GB RAM for multitasking. There is only 2GB of internal space available. You can expand it to as much as 32GB if you need.
