Micromax Canvas XL A119 Review

Micromax comes out with phones too often, I don’t have the data on how many they produce but one thing is for sure- not even 60% of them sell as much as the select few models that stand out and become popular. They are like the Samsung of budget smartphones. The new Micromax phone is the Micromax Canvas XL A119.

Micromax Canvas XL A119 has a surprisingly good feel to it. XL totally defines it’s dimensions, it is a huge phone. Micromax Canvas XL A119 is pretty thin and the soft touch material feels good in your hands to hold. The thin body does not make much difference but it surely makes the Micromax Canvas XL A119 look strikingly well. Micromax Canvas XL A119 has great speakers but the louder you go the more disturbances you tend to face. Overall a decent built phone.

The display is not that great. You can see the pixilation and it probably won’t be too soothing for your eye. Micromax Canvas XL A119 has a 6 inch qHD display which is a resolution of 960×540 pixels. It has one of the worst black levels on any display and the viewing angles are not that great. I really do not like looking at this display but given the price it is pretty ok and budget smartphone seekers should have a look at it.

The 8MP shooter on board takes really nice photographs. They are nice in both colour and detail. The colours are not great because they seem to be washed off or under saturated. I love the balance between them and it works pretty well for a Micromax camera. Micromax Canvas XL A119 camera user interface is also easy to get familiar with and smooth to flow your pictures in motion. Micromax Canvas XL A119’s 5MP front facing camera is ideal for self-portraits and video calling.

Most of the features of a Micromax phones are gimmicks. Micromax Canvas XL A119 is not exception but the basic UI is good. It is a familiar Android design and Micromax Canvas XL A119 works on the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean but this comes at a time when the world is trying to move to v4.4 KitKat or the v4.3 Jelly Bean.

With the 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor and 1GB RAM, Micromax Canvas XL A119 is a really smooth operator. Games like Frontline commando and Asphalt work smooth and does not give you kind of lag other phones might in the same price range. The 2540 mAh battery gives decent hours on battery back up. Micromax Canvas XL A119 offers you 2GB internal memory which is expandable to up to 32GB via a MicroSD card.
