Micromax Canvas Win W121 Review

Micromax and Karbonn have come out with Windows Phone. Microsoft has finally rolled out OEMs to these budget smartphone makers and this will surely work in favour of Windows Phone. Micromax came out with its Canvas Win 121. It is a nice phone with good specifications.

The phone looks decent. It is not too great or not very pathetic; it just looks the way it looks. Micromax fluctuates with their design standards. Some phones they produce makes me think that they are improving and then comes a phone that makes me want to smash it on my all because it is frustrating. This phone has a basic design with a decent built quality. The back panel is plastic and a bit texturized and feels a bit scratchy. Not a good feeling to have.

The display is really good and sharp on the Micromax Canvas Win W121. It has just the detailing and density mixed with that colour balance that I think is appropriate for the price tag this phone sells at. Canvas W121 has a 5 inch 720p HD display. As I said the colour balance is just right, even the gaming graphics are accurate enough to not feel unnatural. The black levels are not that good around the edges but you can do with it.

Every camera that costs less than 15,000 INR, all take under saturated photos and this camera is no different. Canvas Win W121 has an 8 MP camera which takes those under saturated photos I told about. So it comes to detailing and overall focus and shutter speed. Win W121 has awfully low shutter speed that can result in occasional blur and terrible low light shots. The detailing is good but not awesome because the edges of the photo tend to be a little left out and not well detailed. The videos are clean and a tad better than the photo quality.

The only down side of any non Nokia Windows Phone is that you would not get the Nokia goodness of apps. There are some good features that Windows Phone 8.1 has to offer. Live tiles can now have wallpapers. You get a virtual assistant- Cortana which is just brilliant. Camera gets a burst mode, notifications centre and nothing too awesome no other phone has.

Micromax Canvas Win W121 has been blessed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which is clocked at 1.2GHz with 4 cores. Along with 1 GB RAM this phone does perform really well and it does not lag much. You get roughly 8 GB of internal memory expandable to 32GB. Micromax Canvas Win W121 will get you almost a day of battery life.
