Micromax Bolt A58 Review

Micromax has introduced a new budget smartphone. It is priced at the lowest possible price. It is solely for those people who really can’t afford the goodness of a smartphone because the others are just too expensive. So if you are reading this review, it is going to be strictly from a point of view of someone actually tight with money but wanting that nice smartphone. Micromax Bolt A58 is that phone.

Micromax Bolt A58 looks really basic. It has a very general rectangular structure. The built does not feel too cheap but it is still downgraded plastic. They have given the back panel a certain texture so that it does not feel really weird in your hands. The one buying it would not care anyway. Speakers can give you good quality of sound but in max power, you cannot make out what words are actually been conveyed. The buttons are all reachable thanks to the much smaller size of the phone compared to others.

The display looks really decent. Micromax Bolt A58 has a 3.5 inch display. There is visible pixilation but that is acceptable. It carries a resolution of 480×320 pixels. Videos look pretty ok on the display it is not ideal for long hours of video playback but you can make it through. The colours are really good but it does not have the full colour scale background. Viewing angles on the display are good too. It is really good for a budget smartphone display.

The 2MP shooter on board the Micromax Bolt A58 is not the best. The photos come out highly grainy and it is only on a basis of “I have a camera in my phone” kinds. The colours are okay but because of the degraded sharpness there is no use of them, they just spread out like anything. There is no front facing camera for the Micromax Bolt A58.

This is awesome; the Bolt A58 has Android v4.2 on board which is the Jelly Bean. Now that even the version 4.4 KitKat is out, the 4.2 might seem older. But the android fragmentation is shifting and it is improving greatly. The UI on the phone is really great and gives you the pure Micromax feeling. You can get your apps from GooglePlay Store.

Micromax Bolt A58 has a rather faster 1GHz Dual Core processor. The usual games run with no problem. The phone does lag quite a bit. The Bolt A58 also does not give a really good battery backup, with only 4h of talking on 2G connection. You get very less internal memory, so we suggest you buy a microSD before you go through.

Final Thoughts

Micromax Bolt A58 is strictly for those you have never used a smartphone before and are not aware of the awesome quality out there. If you have used a higher end model and you think you will sell your phone a buy a cheaper one, THIS one, you might be kidding me. Bolt A58 is tailor made for those looking for phones in the specific range.
