HTC One M8 vs Nokia Lumia 1020

This phone might be the most neglected front runners of all time. Nokia Lumia 1020 is one of the best Nokia phones ever produced and placed in the most hostile area of high end and high priced phones. We put the HTC One M8 against this Nokia force. Let us see which one is the better choice for your money.

Comparing these two on the basis of design, it is certainly not going to be close. We have a clear winner here and it is called the HTC One M8. Which is not the better design here but overall the smartphones ever. Only iPhone 5/5S would be debatable in design against the HTC One M8. Nokia Lumia 1020 is not the best phone to hold, it is thick, chunky and heavy. That is the courtesy of the 41MP lens it needs to support. It looks alright but feels horrible. HTC One M8 on the other hand has an amazing aluminum body. With the best curved back that runs from edge to edge feels tailor made for your hands. The metallic finish on the phone is so much smoother than the one on the M7. The phone is premium from looks to feel. Design: HTC One M8.

Even this is more of a no brainer for me. The HTC One M8 has a 5 inch 1080p full HD display on the other hand the Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with 4.5inch a standard HD display. But when you compare them you can clearly see the magic of HTC One M8 taking over with such vivid and warm colours that sooth your eyes. The display has reduced glare and the black levels are good as well. Even though the Nokia Lumia 1020 has a HD display, you can see the shortcomings on coloring. And the HTC One M8’s extra 0.5 inches gives your eye better hold for long term entrainment. Display: HTC One M8.

This one is easily weighted as well. HTC One M8 has a 4 MP Ultrapixel camera that gives phenomenal low light photographs but the normal photos are more like “bleh”. I do commend the detailing of the shots but Nokia Lumia 1020 produces artistry in the perfect form. Their low light as well as well-lit subjected shots are amazing. They have everything you need in a good shot, okay maybe not everything as their colours are often over saturated. 41MP sensor produces amazingly detailed shots as well and there is minimum loss even with cropping. The video quality on both the phones are equally good. Even the UIs are enabled with great options to customize your shots. Camera: Nokia Lumia 1020.

The two phones are from different ecosystems. HTC One M8 belongs to the Android running on the v4.4.2 KitKat OS and the Nokia Lumia 1020 from the Windows Phone running the Windows Phone 8.1 OS. HTC has their own UI Skin on the phone- The HTC Sense 6. It is a beautifully designed and crafted UI that is fresh and clean. It has its shares of widgets it gives you. They have certain apps you can use as well. Nokia Lumia 1020 UI is true WP design with its own share of Nokia apps that enhance your phone experience. Software: Tie.

Nokia Lumia 1020 might seem like a common man compared to the HTC One M8 which seems like Flash from DC Comics because it is that much faster. Nokia Lumia 1020 has a Dual Core 1.2GHz processor and the HTC One M8 comes with the beast Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. Both have 2GB of RAM but the HTC One M8 is surely exponentially faster than Nokia Lumia 1020. Battery life is also amazingly better on the HTC One M8 with an amazing battery saver mode. Performance: HTC One M8.
