HTC Desire XC Review

HTC makes highest quality of phones just like Apple, Samsung’s built aint that solid as it is supposed to be. HTC released really awesome series of phones last year of which one of them was HTC Desire XC. The camera is just stunning, so it the built and so is the display and performance. HTC has done wonders with this phone and the other phones that have ever revolved around the HTC brand name. They always get less than they deserve maybe because they do not market as much in most of the countries in which Samsung does but again Samsung doesn’t make smartphones alone. HTC Desire XC is a thing of beauty so read on to know more about it.

The phone is crafted really beautifully. The HTC Desire XC is curved on the corners and around the edges at the back like most of the smart phones. The built is pretty solid, the phone is made out of high quality plastic which feels very smooth in your hands. The speakers are made with collaboration with one of the best audio companies Beats. The speakers are really clear and throw massive volume yet with distinct quality and control. The volume rockers are placed on the right hand side, you have a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a lock button. There is no separate camera button but you can pull out the camera from the home screen or anywhere else, even the lock screen thanks to Android and HTC’s Sense UI. HTC Desire XC is pretty light and weighs roughly about 107g. It is not too thin or too thin with thickness of 9.4mm. The overall measure of the scale on the HTC Desire XC is around 119.5×62.3×9.4 mm. The smartphone comes in black and white with no other available colours.

HTC has always made quite beautiful displays. The HTC Desire XC has a beautiful 4-inch TFT Capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. That is pretty standard for a 4-inch screen. The screen is pretty awesome and won’t need a scratch guard thanks to great engineering by HTC team. The colours always look vibrant on HTC phones so does it looks on this. The display can be viewed from a wide angle too and the black levels are really good for a phone priced in the mid ranged category. The User Interface of this phone makes the display even better with the dynamic widgets and beautiful detailing on the icons. Full HD content looks great on the phone without a doubt but the frame rates could have been much better.

HTC Desire XC has a 5MP primary camera and there is no secondary camera for the phone. The sensor is of brilliant quality because the photograph it captures is just stunning. Even the low light photos have so less noise when you compare it along 5MP smart phone camera of Samsung or any other brand with phones in same price group. HTC Desire XC can record video in a pretty decent quality of 480p with resolution of 800×480 pixels. There is a flash available for night shots and a night mode specifically to enhance the night shots and post process it to get a better finished image. The resolution in which the image is captured is in 2592×1944 pixels. The images have that pure colour saturation you get from the high end smartphone cameras. But the tone of colour is just perfect on this HTC lens.

Android is the most popular mobile operating system in whole world right now. This specific phone runs on the Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Android v4.0 was a huge jump from the coming of Android v2.3 Gingerbread (duh?). Android ICS along with HTC’s Sense UI on HTC Desire XC, the phone can be deeply personalized and thanks to the openness of Android Mobile OS, you can program it to behave the way you want it to. You can make it looks like Windows Phone or iOS for that matter of fact. Facebook used it to create their home on the system and personalized it pretty deeply. Facebook Home has come up pretty well but only for a limited number of devices now. HTC Sense makes the main phone environment pretty nice and the new version on this one is not annoying like the last one was.

Performance and Memory

HTC Desire XC has a 1GHz Dual Core processor and 768MB RAM, one of the perfect set up for seamless browsing and playing games without lag. The 1GHz Dual Core Snapdragon Processor is quiet awesome and fuels this phone well for managing tasks and running apps without much trouble. The OS is pretty heavy on the RAM as it is, there are always something that goes up unnecessary thanks to the openness of Android, even those skins I talked about earlier eat a lot of RAM. So the more you tweak it, you will have to tweak it that much better and smarter and monitor your RAM. The phone comes with an internal memory of 4GB which is expandable to 32GB by inserting microSD cards. HTC Desire XC can connect over both 2G and 3G. You can use Bluetooth and microUSB to regulate data here and there whenever and wherever you need to.

Final Thoughts

HTC Desire XC is one of the highest quality smartphones available in the market lately. The display will catch your eye and mesmerize you, the built is just beautiful and you will want to hold it all day. The gaming experience or anything related to entertainment is carried out without much trouble on this phone. Thanks to HTC and its collaboration with Beats audio you get the best of speakers on any smartphone till date.
