HTC 8X Review

HTC always welcomes news innovations and new developments and incorporates right away in their phones. They were there for Android, they came for the Android based Facebook Home ( HTC first- FB dedicated phone) then for stock android and now for Windows Phone 8. They did not try their hands on Windows Phone 7.5 because they knew it was more like a beta OS than a frontline one. The HTC 8X is their flagship Windows Phone 8 model and the younger sibling to this powerful model is the HTC 8S. The HTC 8X is probably the least expensive phone in the market right now to support 4G LTE network.

HTC has always, ALWAYS produced one of the best smartphones in terms of design atleast. HTC 8X will mesmerize you. The phone is crafted to perfection. It is made out of the high density material and has that premium matte finish. HTC 8X is quiet light with a weight of just 130g. The finish is really smooth and feels expensive. The screen is also of high quality and does not reflect back sunlight allowing you to use it with a relatively smaller amount of brightness and help save battery at crucial times. The micro drilled speakers are just amazing and thanks to their partnership with Beat Audio they provide the best sound on smartphones period. The speakers are really loud and give out clear and distinct sound base. The back of the HTC 8X is really perfectly curve so has to fit your hands like it was made for them. There are the conventional microUSB slot and 3.5mm headphone jack on the device. HTC 8X comes in funky colours of California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red, Limelight Yellow.

HTC 8X has an S-LCD 2 Capacitive touchscreen display. The display is 4.3 inches diagonally. Well many of you might want a larger screen for the money you get but numbers do not have it all. HTC 8X has one of the best looking most beautiful displays in that phone category. Well at this price almost all phones have amazing displays. Windows Phone 8 anyway is very light on the colours and pixels of the display and hence makes the display look even denser. The resolution of the display is 720×1280 pixels hence this is a 720p HD display and the display has a pixel density of 352ppi. The colours on the display look really great and vibrant. All the wallpapers that you use are customized with the WP8 software and they just look absolutely wonderful. You can do a side by side comparison with different phones and you will see how amazing it looks. Full HD video play back is also very soothing to the eyes and makes you want to stick to it all day. The black levels are really uniform and deep and the viewing angles are pretty good as well.

The HTC 8X has an 8MP primary camera. The autofocus works really awesomely even for macro shots. Most of the high end mobile phones lack that capability but yeah there is always that touch to focus that you can use. In good lighting conditions it goes without saying that it takes just beautiful photographs. You know when you do not need as much detail as you get from a DSLR, smart phone cameras are the better option because frankly the real world colour balance are always captured by those smaller lenses. The maximum resolution in which HTC 8X’s 8MP camera can take photographs is in 3264×2448 pixels. It has the mode of HDR to get that extra detail and make your photos look more beautiful than they actually do. Dedicated night mode helps you the capture good photos in night which then go to the software and gets worked upon to reduce noise and crank up the broken parts and get great night shots too without the flash. The camera does have the LED flash too. Both the primary and the secondary 2MP camera can take video in full HD 1080p.

Windows Phone 8 is revolutionary new mobile operating software which is amazingly different than Android or iOS. It introduces a flat design that makes the phone look much smarter. The flat design will now be incorporated by even iOS when the version 7 arrives this fall of 2013. For those of you who live most of their lives on social networks or who like to be connected, this OS gives you real deep social network integration. The mobile OS is really light on the RAM and hence for general multitasking the phone can do so without any lag. WP 8 comes like a saviour for those of you getting bored of the streams of icons over iOS and Android. The live tiles that comprise of the home page for this OS get updated all the time (when you are connected to the internet). You can change the colours of the live tiles and also resize them. The live tiles really reflect who you.

Performance and Memory

With Windows Phone 8 you do not need a real fast processor or a large amount of RAM to make it function properly without the phone choking. 1GB of RAM is more than sufficient and is available on this phone. The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core 1.5GHz processor. The phone is really superfast and responds really quickly. Directly comparing it to Nokia Lumia 920 the flagship front line model by Nokia which runs WP8, the HTC 8X scores higher in 80% of the benchmark tests run. HTC 8X has 16GB of internal memory which is not expandable and there is no option of a 32GB model or higher. You have Bluetooth, NFC and microUSB for the files or pairing up with devices.

Final Thoughts

If you are considering buying a high end Windows Phone 8 phone then we recommend you get your hands on the HTC 8X. It has got the power and the looks to drive your world every day. HTC 8X has a real premium finish to its body, the display looks great and beats audio makes the whole entertainment experience worth the price. HTC 8X is as big as quality can get.
