It has a pretty different design, it is flat from the front (obviously) but at the edge their cuts till the very end. The back is crucial always. It is rightly curved around the edges at the back so it fits perfectly in your hands and the edges to cause any troubles while you hold them. The speakers are really badly placed, they are at the back and concentrated at an area instead being spread out. If you want to watch something while tablet is placed on its back on the tablet you won’t be able to hear anything. Hence you will be forced to use headphones.
The display is an LED backlight display, something you find on relatively higher end tablets like the Tab 3 or iPad Mini. It has a 7 inch display which looks great on the HCL ME Tablet U1. It supports multitouch. The resolution of the display is about 800×480 pixels. I hope you did not expect an HD display on such a budget tablet. Viewing angles are terrible and there is no focus on the detailing. It is simply made to just read, watch videos with a non critical eye and just let be.
No secondary camera (front facing), kill me. The primary rear camera which is not actually needed is a stupid VGA camera that has no use on this tablet. Why would anyone put a camera just for the sake of it- HCL would! The photos are really noisy and there is nothing even the software apps can do about that.
HCL ME Tablet U1 runs on the Android v4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. It gives a great deal of personalization and customization to your tablet. Use it freely and with no problems. Google play store will help you buy/get apps for free, the apps soley made for tablets. The user interface is quiet so-so but yeah true to Android UI’s on most of the devices. There are no features that stand out. Everything is really natural and simple.
To start with the tablet lags a lot, it lags here and it lags there. Even for reading when you are flipping form one page to another it really sucks the way it sticks. With 1GB RAM and 1GHz processor it should have been better optimized for better performance but it isn’t. It comes with internal memory of just 4GB whereas its rivals offer 8GB/16GB. You can expand the memory to up to 32GB via microSD cards. You get Bluetooth connectivity. SIM can be used for data which supports 3G and a Wi-Fi hub is available too.
For a multipurpose no high performance tablet too it is quiet a bring one. Display is terrible, the funcationality is laggy and it sucks me down into depression wanting to write good about it but I can’t. Don’t buy this tablet. If you want to buy this you rather not buy anything.
HCL ME Tablet U1 comes for Rs. 5000
