In this article we compare two of the best mid ranged phones in the marker- Nexus 4 by Google-LG and the Nokia Lumia 820. Both of them are simply brilliant. They are great performers without the gimmick features. Nexus 4 runs on stock Android, v 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the Nokia Lumia 820, the Windows Phone 8. Excited to see who comes out as the winner. Before you read further, take a lucky guess.

Design

Nexus 4 is a really good phone to hold, it has a nice plastic body. The front is a continuous paint of black. It really looks simple and nice. The edges are kind of annoying. Nokia Lumia 820 on the other hand is made up of polycarbonate body and is available in loads of nice colours. The body is really durable and the highest quality of polycarbonate that you will see on a smartphone. But the 820 is kind of heavy, uncomfortably. Nexus 4 does not have such great speakers whereas on the contrary 820 will blow your mind. Design- Nokia Lumia 820.

Display

Nexus 4 features a 4.7 inch 720p display with a 318ppi. This display is so amazing. Everything is so sharp and your commands move like fluid on a flat table. It is simply amazing. Nokia Lumia 820 has a 4.3 inch display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels and pixel density of just 217ppi. The display looks amazing with the WP8 flat design but when it comes to gaming and video playback Nexus 4 bully the Nokia Lumia 820 to a stop infront of it. Nexus 4’s display is that amazing and flamboyant.

Camera

Nokia Lumia 820 has a better camera. There is no debate on this topic. It is a far better lens with Carl Zeiss optics and optimized performance form the 8MP camera. Even the Nexus 4 has a 8MP primary camera but it stands no chance against the quality of photos that come out from the Nokia Lumia 820. The camera software is also largely better on the 820 than the Nexus 4 and with the new Amber update, Nexus 4 would have to vanish. Camera- Nokia Lumia 820.

Software

Like we said before, the Nokia Lumia 820 runs on the Windows Phone 8 OS and the Nexus 4 a lighter and better optimized Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It can be upgraded to Andorid v4.3 Jelly Bean. Both of them do not come with any fancy features. So now we consider app ecosystem, this is also a topic we should not waste time debating on- Nexus 4 with Android v4.3 beats the guts out of Nokia Lumia 820’s ecosystem (WP8). Software- Nexus 4.

Performance

Nexus 4 is exponentially faster with it’s Quad Core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon against Nokia Lumia 820’s Dual Core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon. Also, Nexus 4 comes with 2GB RAM and 820 with 1GB. Nexus 4 and Lumia 820 both have NFC. Nexus 4’s battery life is a couple of hours better than the 820. Nexus 4 does not come with an expandable memory but the Nokia Lumia 820 does. Performance- Nexus 4

Final Verdict

Google LG Nexus 4 wins this one. It is gravely faster and has a better app eco system. On stock Android, there is not much that can go wrong on this device. The display is just beautiful to look it and the phone really comfortable to hold. Google and LG have done an amazing job. Nexus 4 vs Nokia Lumia 820- Nexus 4 wins it all.
