Apple iPhone 5S Review

I was expecting a lot form the iPhone 5S. It had to be the one to remove the clouds over Apple’s innovation. The leaks that followed before the release easily took away our element of surprise. Secretly I was hoping they were planting them to distract the real product. It is great but it still doesn’t want me to put all that huge amount of money to buy it. I use an IPhone 5 and it does not make want to throw my 5 away to get my 5S.

iPhone 5S Design
iPhone 5S has not seen any design changed. It stays true to the wow-ness that held the iPhone5 on the premium base. The brilliant aluminum and light luster are the trademark of the iPhone 5, carried on to the 5S. The back is flat and comes in your hand rather easily and feels very comfortable. The speakers are the same, no competition to the HTC One’s Boom Sound. The home button is now a finger print scanner, they call it TouchID. It has 5 layers to it. The black colour has changed now, it has more of silver. Then there is the new gold colour and the standard white-silver they use on the iPhone 5. They have spoiled the black for me.

There has been no change in the display of the iPhone 5S over the iPhone 5. It has the same 4.0 inch Retina Display with 323ppi pixel density and a resolution of. We wish the display was a bit larger. Just a tad so that I can do much more on the beautiful retina display. One thing is sure, though it is not a full HD display, the colors are not better anywhere in front of this display or are the images so sharp. If you don’t love the retina display you must be kidding me. With the new GPU it creates x2 the graphics on iPhone 5 and we know how awesome that one was. The viewing angles could not be better.

iPhone 5S Camera
The sensor has been redesigned. Though it is still the same 8MP one, it has a f/2.2 aperture that allows 15% more light to fall. This creates better low light images and even sharper day light images. The lens is fat better than the one on the iPhone 5. It has a completely different technology. It now takes 5 different images, with each of them having their perfection in contrasts, colour, sharpness etc and combines them to give you one perfectly sharp image. Detailing of objects could not be better. The colrs are so real and so beautiful to the eyes.

The camera can now take a slow motion 120fps 720p video. You can decide the parts of it which you want faster and the parts you want to be the slow motion ones. So the camera interface has been completely redesigned with iOS 7. You have different modes and you can apply filters to them. I wish we could toggle with ISO and WB and much more. But man is the lens the awesomest on a camera phone period. The front camera is 1.2 MP also really cool.
iPhone 5S TrueTone Flash
True Tone flash gives you the best flash photographs. It detects colour temperatures and according to that it matches the surroundings and makes it amazingly uniform. It will detect the surroundings and set the flash temperature. It could not get any better than this.

iPhone 5S TouchID
iPhone 5S runs on the new iOS 7 inspired by the flat design. It looks really cool with the dynamic wallpapers, parallax and what not. The colors are really amazing. The way the apps seamlessly move from one to another, just wow. So the TouchID sensor is a finger print scanner which provides a much needed security installment for your smartphone. You can just put your finger and it will unlock the phone for you. You can have as many as 5 fingers loaded for recognition. You can press it on any orientation and it will unlock. With iOS 7, if your phone gets stolen and somehow they get past your TouchID which is impossible, they cant delete the find my iPhone because for that you would need the user’s Apple ID and password. You can also purchase from iTunes from your fingerprint. World’s most secure phone is here.

iPhone 5S Performance A7 Chip

We were stunned to know what Apple told us. The A7 is a 64 bit processor working inside the iPhone 5S. it is twice faster than iPhone 5 and x40 than the iPhone 1! That is crazy. That is a speed you don’t need, I mean there are no apps as yet which can use so much processing power. iPhone 5S also has a 1GB DDR3 RAM which allows you to multitask effectively. It can share files with other iOS 7 phones via Air Drop. There is Bluetooth for 3rd party hardware pairing. It is available in non-expandable 16GB/32GB and 64GB models. There is a co processor now, M7 chip which takes info about the gyro, compass and various movement related stuff and process that in the co-processor than the main processor. Now the iPhone will know when you are running or driving hence it will stop looking for Wi-Fi and other such things. It will save battery life and account for better fitness apps.

Final Thoughts

iPhone 5S is a stunning phone in every possible way. It is surely one of the best iPhone period. It just does not stand out against the other smartphones. Actually none of them have that extra uber cool wow anymore, actually Note III seems amazing. They need more in the bag next time. The A7, new camera lens and the Touch ID are some really heavy stuff that makes this one of the best phones in the market. If you have a 4S, close your eyes and buy this one. If you have iPhone 5 then well, think about it.

Passion and Inspiration drives my life and I get them both from technology. Getting to write about it is an absolute bliss. The bliss comes from people reading what you want to convey. There is nothing better for a person than his views to be heard. I am a music, tv shows, movies and technological enthusiast.
