Apple iPhone 4S Review

Most of the rumors before an Apple product were revolving around Apple iPhone 4S and the answer was Siri. The first time ever we got a personal assistant on a phone all thanks of innovation by Apple. But it is still in the beta version and needs a lot of work. They stuck more or less to the design on the iPhone 4. The processor is faster and the camera is much better. iPhone 4S did bring a drastic change on the table over iPhone 4 by introducing Siri. The advertisement itself might have sold many people off.

Apple is known for their premium finishes to the phone. The iPhone 4S is made out of high quality glass and aluminum. The phone is really very smooth. Apple iPhone 4S has a totally flat back, no curves around or on it at all. The finish on the back is of the glass that feels very good to hold. The main body is slightly curved over the corners. The bottom of the phone has the usb connector through wish you can connect to the computer or the travel chargers. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack just besides the USB connector. The lock or the home button is at the top and the volume rockers on the left edge of the phone. Undoubtedly it has the most comfortable and satisfying feel on a high end phone around the time it released. Apple iPhone 4S comes in Black and White colours.

Apple is the exclusive brand that makes what they call retina display. It is not a full HD display but is said to pack the most vibrant colours and detailed displays on a smart phone ever. The one on the Apple iPhone 4S is a 3.5 inch display with a resolution of 640×960 pixels with a pixel density of 330ppi. It is one of the most beautiful displays in the whole of the smart phone world. But Apple is being pushed lately with the screen display size as Samsung continues to attract people with their flashy new large display phones and well, its working. The 3.5 inch retina display is just blissful to look it, the colours look really rich and you can see no pixilation anywhere at all. Not even if you test this display with worst of the worst. Even the full HD videos look amazing but they not flow like they should as they do so on the full HD displays that have come out with recent wave of smart phones in 2013.

Apple iPhone 4S has an 8MP primary camera and a VGA front facing camera. For a front facing camera, it is really awesome. Do not get fooled just because it says it’s VGA. It has one of the widest capturing areas by a front facing camera lens. It can also capture 480p video which can get streamed for video calls with full 480p quality available. There are no words to describe how beautiful the 8MP primary camera is. It captures the true colours of our lives in the best possible way. Using the camera is really easy. The lens is intelligent enough to facilitate the ISO settings and different levels for suitable images. But it does not let you be as creative as you would have wished to be by exploiting more by changing the settings. But there is no matching the clarity of shots from the iPhone cameras. It has a handy HDR and panorama mode.

When you talk about quality of applications, iOS is right there at a top with close matches with WP8 but far ahead when compared to Android. The rich diversity of Android does not allow it to be the highest quality of apps as developers are asked to adjust a lot. Thanks to the sizing of the phone and the iOS- it can be easily operated with one hand perfectly. Talking about apps one problem might be that certain apps that are free on Android are paid for on the iOS. It is not very expensive, but yeah not an ideal situation either. The icons have a very standard design and you can customize it into different folders to find specific apps quickly. Settings can be a little complicated for you to search for specific things but you will get used to it. iOS is much lighter on your RAM than any other mobile OS for its given functions and hence lags very less or not at all. The phone comes out with iOS 5 out of the box and currently upgradable to iOS 6 and in Sept 2013 will be upgradable to iOS 7- beauty of Apple, this is one thing Android will never be able to achieve.

Performance and Memory

Apple iPhone 4S comes with the Apple A5 processor and 512MB of RAM. For its apps on the out of box version of iOS i.e. iOS 5 the phone runs and responds really fast. The phone is lag free with iOS5 but tends to slow down a bit when you use iOS 6 and the newer applications but not a drastic lowering of speed. There are 3 models with different storages available: 16GB/32GB/64GB. It does have Bluetooth but it only connects to Apple products or third party hardware.

Final Thoughts

Apple iPhone 4S is a very desirable product not just because of the brand name because just the looks and built makes you feel the worth for its money. It is a top performer and has a very user friendly technical ecosystem behind it. Hopefully the iOS 7 will not slow it down further and rather help the hardware in a way. Siri is unique and you should buy this to experience a simple voice assistant.

There is nothing better for a person than his views to be heard. I am a music, tv shows, movies and technological enthusiast.
